Weekend's over again

Sis bought me a ticket to see Beauty & The Beast The Musical on Saturday - it was a blast! Ok, at first, it wasn't - the entire hall had to sit there for a whole hour and 15 mins before the show started. During intermission, someone finally came out and explained that a motor problem that enables the changing of scenes had occurred and the contractors needed time to fix it. I even had time to nap while waiting, ya know! Nap, in KLCC convec plenary theatre ... we definitely didn't pay to sleep in there! And aiyo, the organizers should have sent someone to come out and explain to us why we were waiting after 15 mins. Like hello, the tickets not cheap ok! But M'sians seem to be very forgiving people. No one made much havoc. Even Harith Iskandar (who was sitting a few rows in front of us) seems to have taken it quite well, sitting still throughout the long silent waiting period (silent, not quiet, cos the numerous kids were restless and running up and down the stairs).

But hey, the musical was really good. The most outstanding character - Lumiere, very French and very I-think-I'm-so-sexy. His version of Be My Guest was awesome. Gaston also was quite memorable, because he was portrayed with rather feminine poses (in my opinion), striking supposedly masculine poses constantly to show off his manliness. Belle was amazing, her voice is really quite like the cartoon Belle, very sweet to listen to.

The musical ended at 6.30pm. Pity the cast, only 1.5 hrs rest before the next show at 8pm.

Our tickets were the 2nd best level at RM250, but we felt it was rather far from the stage. But at least we got to survey KLCC convec plenary theatre, and we deduce that the best seats are indeed the most expensive seats. Either that, or pay for the 3rd best seats which are a level up, directly above the 2nd best seats.

Before the musical, my sis and I popped into the postgradasia exhibition as well. Found this rather interesting Masters in Tourism Travel and Hospitality by Taylors' College. I have this fondness for prospectuses. I like the newness of these books that seem to offer so much potential, hold so much dreams, give so much hope. Ok, I'm drifting. Still. If I were this really rich "siu lai" that doesn't have to work much, I'd probably be taking up course after course after course. I rather think that's where I'd spend most of my money, rather than at mahjong tables or beauty spas. Ahh, dreaming's fun.

And late this morning, I finished the entire season of Gossip Girl. I deem it my replacement tv therapy for The OC. So much drama and nonsense in the lives of these rich kids. Only in America, can high school kids' lives be filled with so much more "activities" and happenings than what our nose-in-books secondary school kids can only dream of.

Tonight we celebrated Ann Jet's birthday at Wendy's Bistro. Yumms. We had grilled spare ribs, grilled pork belly, grilled pork chop, sausage platter, angelhair pasta, salmon pasta, salmon salad, and bruschetta. The pastas and salad were excellente! I think the pork was only so-so, the meat a bit too tough, and the sauce not so fabulous. This is in comparison to the Bali ones. But, the prices in Wendy's is quite reasonable, about RM23.90 for the spare ribs, can't remember the rest. But altogether, for the above menu, total RM228/- for 8 pax including taxes. I'd come back here again for pasta, if I were in the area - that's Sunway Mentari, opposite the famous Yuen steamboat (and coincidentally, squashed between 2 steamboat restaurants, Sunway seems to be sprouting these).

And, as usual, on Sunday nights, after returning from wherever we were, I'll reverse my car out of the gate, ready to drive to work early on Monday morning. But tonight it can't start :( My brand new car of only exactly one month can.not.start. I have fallen in love quite badly with my car (though I've tried very hard not to cos I know that it is not good to have feelings for an inanimate object that does not know how to return the affection). But my Suzie Swift is really very very very nice to drive. And now, it can.not.start. Thankfully, my car salesman still picks up calls at 10pm. He promised to come with a tow truck tmr morning to bring my car to the service centre. A tow truck, my new car - aiyo, those 2 things just are not supposed to go together! But, *deep breathe*, things like this happen. I'm a big person, I can handle this, small issue *wave hand*.

The July 5 protest gathering in KLCC has been postponed - to July 6 and in PJ, no less!

I dunno whether to be happy or sad. Not like I'd ever go join in the merriment - I'm more the type that sits in jams and bemoan the gatherings that cause my predicament while silently thinking, you go guys!

But to hold the gathering in front of Amcorp Mall on a Sunday? Aiyo, after that fateful petrol hike day, I don't ever want to be in another petrol-price-hike-induced jam again.

Up we go

The talk of the town : petrol now costs RM2.70 per litre - an increase of 40.6% since the last review in Feb 2006, and a whopping hike of 97.08% since the current PM went into power and announced the first petrol review in 22 years on Labour's Day 2004. (Charts and figures)

So, what does the layman do, when protesting and grumbling and swearing achieves nothing substantial?

No no no, we're not going to herald the illogical "change lifestyles" slogan that the PM is always harping on about. Like hello, change to a poorer lifestyle? No thank you! I didn't work so hard in order to decrease my living standards!

So, what to do?

We find ways to earn more money! (Bright idea from my dad)

But then, eh, people like us earn fixed salary la, so how? Add a few more km into that monthly mileage claim?

Aihh, I tell you, the air of resignation is depressing. Best to get on with life - it's too short to waste precious time moaning about an unreliable country administrator, better to use the energy to find ways to live the life we still want, and still be able to sleep soundly at night.
