The talk of the town : petrol now costs RM2.70 per litre - an increase of 40.6% since the last review in Feb 2006, and a whopping hike of 97.08% since the current PM went into power and announced the first petrol review in 22 years on Labour's Day 2004. (Charts and figures)
So, what does the layman do, when protesting and grumbling and swearing achieves nothing substantial?
No no no, we're not going to herald the illogical "change lifestyles" slogan that the PM is always harping on about. Like hello, change to a poorer lifestyle? No thank you! I didn't work so hard in order to decrease my living standards!
So, what to do?
We find ways to earn more money! (Bright idea from my dad)
But then, eh, people like us earn fixed salary la, so how? Add a few more km into that monthly mileage claim?
Aihh, I tell you, the air of resignation is depressing. Best to get on with life - it's too short to waste precious time moaning about an unreliable country administrator, better to use the energy to find ways to live the life we still want, and still be able to sleep soundly at night.
