Mushy dushy cushy

I watched 2 movies over the week - and they were delightful!
August Rush - about a young orphan boy who searches for his parents. On his quest out of the secluded orphanage, he realizes that the world is made up of sounds - music to his ears. He gets taken in by a sort of orphan-pimp (Robin Williams, who's brilliant) who teaches homeless kids how to beg on music and takes in the boy, realizing the boy's musical genius and the money-making opportunities. The boy gets renamed as August Rush. Somehow, he gains entry into Juilliard - THE music school and gets to conduct his own concert.

The beginning part of the movie flits between flashbacks - of how his parents met, how they fell in love, how he ended up an "orphan". The 2nd half the movie is about how he sharpens his musical inclinations, while his mother searches frantically for him, and his father realizes that he must find his true love. The movie has a happy ending, of course. And a brilliant soundtrack to boot! You'll absolutely fall in love with Jonathan Rhys Meyers' haunting eyes after this movie, trust me. And if you love acoustic guitar and other classical sounds, this movie's definitely for you.

Ghost Town - the title is so unlike any movie I'd willingly watch. But KF said it's not a horror movie, so okay, I give it a try. And I'm pleasantly surprised. Greg Kinnear and Tea Leoni (who's got nice shoulders I should say. This guy Frank dies in an accident. He comes back and haunts the dentist Dr. Pincus - who can apparently see dead people because the dentist died for 7 minutes during surgery and came back alive again, with the side effect of "seeing dead people". Frank soughts Pincus' help to finish his apparent "unfinished business" with his mistress.

The end result is a romantic comedy that's funny and humorous - and I love the sweet ending. I have fulfilled my mushy quota for the month :)
