The Rude RUDE Malaysian

I found this really really interesting! Was just surfing The Star's website just now (it's Saturday night and I'm not sleepy), and came across this! I saw this a few days ago in the newspapers but forgot totally about it.

Presenting to you, The Rude Malaysian contest!

Click on the URL and enter your vote! You get to vote only once, but boy, was it interesting to read what Malaysians do. It makes you go through everything that makes you angry when living here. My boyfriend complains constantly about Malaysians professing to be educated and all, but having no sense at all when cutting traffic queues, throwing rubbish, spitting in public, I could list more.

But oh, let me tell you what we saw the other day. Was standing along Jalan Pasar in KL that day waiting for a friend. There were cars illegally parked on the road. DBKL's officer came and wrote a summons and shooed drivers away. This black Wira had a summons. A few minutes after the DBKL officer left, the car owner returned to his car. Get this, with one grand hand gesture, he swept the summons to the road! We stared at him, then I noticed he had a "Polis Diraja Malaysia" car sticker on his windscreen. Like that's supposed to explain why he can ignore a summons? Urgh. It's police officers like this who blatantly ignore the law and make fun of it that causes so much trouble for our country. Although that is generalising it a bit too much. But, the point is, Malaysians still have a long way to go before we reach "developed" status :P

Question though : would you rather live in a country with such "educated" people, or would you rather be a 2nd-class citizen in a developed country?
